Our Ingredients

Olive Oil

In the fifth century B.C., olive trees were widely cultivated across the Mediterranean. From the natural juices of the olive, olive oil became a hot commodity throughout the Greek colonies. Today, olive oil has sustained its role in the Italian diet and spread throughout the world. Olive oil is very beneficial to one’s health, due to its large amount of antioxidants and healthy fats, both of which maintain a healthy cholesterol level by raising good cholesterol and regulating bad cholesterol. Olive oil is processed in different varieties, ranging from extra virgin, which consists of the olive’s first oils, to extra light, which is highly processed with small traces of the olive juice. In addition to a multitude of health benefits, olive oil has a nutty, smooth taste that heightens the flavor of all types of dishes.

Nutty, Delicate, Herbaceous.

Canola Oil

Mild, Fresh, Crisp.

Developed in Canada in the late 1960s, this versatile cooking oil contains the essential fatty acids needed to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle. With its neutral flavor profile, canola oil can be added to any food venture, be it mixed in a salad dressing with other oils or used to sauté a meal. Canola oil consists of three fats: monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, and saturated. Both monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are beneficial to one’s health, for both help to control a healthy level of cholesterol. Canola oil has a great ratio of the good fats to the bad fats, giving it a healthy edge that you might not have known about!

Avocado Oil

Clean, Neutral, Buttery.

Avocado oil is the pressed juices from the fleshy pulp of the delicious avocado. It has a particularly high smoking point and light flavor making it a perfect cooking oil for both high-temperature frying, grilling, and sautéing, as well as a nice light salad oil, ideal for making vinaigrettes or as an alternative to olive oil. Avocado oil contains high levels of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, proteins, beta-carotene, and vitamins A, D, and E, and has a better ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acids than olive oil. Yep, we’ll take a bottle!

Toasted Sesame Seed Oil

Rich, Nutty, Warm.

Toasted Sesame Seed Oil is a wonderful finishing oil to use if you want to try out some new flavors in your meals. Before you start cooking, keep in mind that sesame oil has a low smoke point relative to most other oils and it is not suitable for any cooking. Sesame oil is high in linoleic acid, one of the essential fatty acids our bodies cannot produce and is required for normal growth and for healthy blood, arteries, and nerves. Sesame oil is also rich in oleic acid, and unrefined oils that are high in oleic acid are thought to benefit cardiovascular health. Additionally, our Toasted Sesame Oil contains a natural antioxidant known as “sesamol” that prevents this type of oil from becoming rancid as quickly as other oils. You can’t go wrong with a long-lasting oil on your shelf!

Grapeseed Oil

Neutral, Light, Versatile.

Grapeseed oil is a wonderful high-heat cooking oil that also has many health benefits. It contains significant amounts of vitamin E (about twice as much as olive oil), is non-hydrogenated, has no cholesterol or trans fats, and has very little saturated fat. As if Grapeseed Oil wasn’t great already, it also has a smoke point of 420 degrees, making it perfect for sauteeing basically anything!

All-Natural Herbs

Flavorful, Fresh, Aromatic.

Each week Hongar Farms picks up fresh herbs from a local market in Georgia, which are then dried naturally and added to each bottle of oil by hand. Our dried herbs provide maximum taste in each of the infused oils we produce.
